Yoko Capsule

Two Days Off

Was beyond honored when Emi (@little_kotos_closet) asked me to help style some gifted pieces from Gina’s (@twodaysoffclothing) #TDOYokoCapsule. Dedicated to Emi’s mother Yoko, each piece is inspired by special memories Yoko had.

Here I’m wearing the Journey dress. This dress is the perfect choice to wear on shoots when I want to stay comfy, yet still feel put together.

I wanted to share some of my own familial connections with the pieces. My dad’s favorite creative medium is music, and although that doesn’t come as easily to me as visual art, we both share a love of photography.

He took film classes when he was young and felt great joy in shooting landscapes. My favorite subjects are people and I love to use his hand-me-down camera bag.

Here is the second gifted look featuring Emi (@little_kotos_closet) and Gina’s (@twodaysoffclothing) #TDOYokoCapsule. Dedicated to Emi’s mother Yoko, each piece is inspired by special memories Yoko had.

Here I’m wearing the Okaasan wrap top and Koto skirt. I love the ease of this set, it can handle the sitting, standing, and bending when crafting a piece of my own.

For this look I wanted to honor my own mom, and share that my love of sewing was inherited from her.

She isn’t as obsessed with fashion as I am, but she loves making items for others. From masks to blankets to banners to dance garments, over the years she taught herself how to create a myriad of items.
